Browser extension privacy

No server collection. Text you select and send through the context menu is read and processed locally; the extension does not automatically read whole pages.

Toolars does not collect, transmit, or store personal data, browsing history, website content, keystrokes, or tool input and output on any server.

Recent tools and favorites live in the browser's local storage on your device.

Version scope, updated October 5, 2026: versions up to 0.2.1 hold selected text in chrome.storage.session with a localStorage fallback until the side panel consumes it. It is not sent to a server.

Version 0.3.0 uses extension-local ports and chrome.storage.session, scoped to the originating window, removes consumed content, and has no persistent raw-input fallback. Ordering identifiers contain no input or output content.

In 0.3.0, requests older than 60 seconds are rejected; expired keys are pruned during startup, reads and request activity. A best-effort 20-second timer clears undelivered raw content while the worker runs. Worker suspension can delay physical deletion. These version descriptions do not indicate whether a Chrome Web Store update has been approved.

This information never leaves your device and is never synced or transmitted anywhere; it is not used for analytics, profiling, or advertising. Clearing the extension's site data or uninstalling the extension removes it. Passwords, digests, QR codes, and every other tool result exist only in memory until you copy or download them yourself.

Bundled side-panel tools work offline without network requests. Optional website links require a connection.

Explicit web-version links and context-menu actions can open toolars.com in a browser tab. In 0.3.0 these links contain no selected text, image URL, file or token. Image and PDF workflows require you to select files again on the website; the extension does not download images or transfer files automatically. That website is covered by the main privacy policy.

Three permissions: sidePanel opens the tools; contextMenus adds actions for selected text and images; storage passes selected text to the side panel locally.

There are no host permissions, no content scripts, and no remote code. All logic ships inside the extension package.

The extension embeds no analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs, and shares nothing with third parties.

Any future data practice will be disclosed here before a new version ships.

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be published at this URL with a new effective date.
