How to convert an RGBA color to HEX

    Enter the channel values

    Type an rgb() or rgba() value into the RGB or RGBA color field — the field opens with rgba(109, 94, 248, 0.8) filled in and accepts up to 64 characters. Red, green, and blue must be integers from 0 to 255, alpha a number from 0 to 1; percentages and out-of-range channels are rejected.

    Run the conversion

    Press Convert to HEX. The parser validates every channel before converting, and the previous result clears as soon as you edit the field, so the panel never shows a stale value.

    Read the hexadecimal result

    The result is an uppercase hex value: #RRGGBB when the color is fully opaque, #RRGGBBAA when the alpha is below 1. The alpha byte is the alpha multiplied by 255 and rounded, so 0.8 becomes 204, written CC.

    Review the individual channels

    The result channels and preview show the exported HEX color after alpha is quantized to an 8-bit byte. For example, input alpha 0.65 becomes 166/255, displayed as 0.65098. This is an output preview, not an unchanged copy of the input alpha.

    Load the sample conversion

    Press Load sample to watch a full run: rgba(14, 165, 233, 0.65) converts to #0EA5E9A6, because 0.65 times 255 rounds to 166, which is A6 in hex. Reset returns the default rgba(109, 94, 248, 0.8) input.

What RGBA to HEX Converter actually does

Design tokens, older stylesheets, and plenty of APIs still want colors as hex, while computed CSS and modern design tools hand you rgba(). Translating rgba(14, 165, 233, 0.65) by hand means three decimal-to-hex conversions plus the alpha byte. Common questions

What input syntax is accepted?
rgb(r, g, b) or rgba(r, g, b, a) with comma-separated channels: red, green, and blue must be integers from 0 to 255, and alpha a number from 0 to 1 such as 0.8 or .65. The notation is case-insensitive and tolerates spaces around the commas; percentage channels like rgb(50%, 30%, 20%) are rejected by design.
When does the output include an alpha byte?
Only when the alpha is below 1. rgba(109, 94, 248, 0.8) becomes #6D5EF8CC, while the same color at full opacity becomes #6D5EF8 — the hex notation never carries a redundant FF.
How does the alpha become the last byte?
The alpha is multiplied by 255 and rounded to the nearest integer, then written as two uppercase hex digits. So 0.5 becomes 128, shown as 80, and 0.65 rounds to 166, shown as A6 — the same mapping CSS uses for eight-digit hex colors.
Why was my input rejected?
The message names the exact problem: a channel above 255, a non-integer channel, an alpha above 1, or a format other than rgb() or rgba(). The parser is deliberately strict so a typo never becomes a silently wrong color. Fix the value and convert again — nothing was sent anywhere.
Can I convert hex back to rgba()?
