How to generate test IBANs

    Choose a country format

    Choose DE, GB, NL, FR, ES or IT. Generation follows each country's IBAN length and BBAN character pattern. It does not verify bank codes or implement every national account checksum.

    Set how many values you need

    Enter the number of Test values, from 1 to 25 per run; the default is 5. Load sample switches to the GB format with 3 values and generates immediately, which is the quickest way to see the four-letter bank code shape before you produce your own set.

    Generate the fixtures

    Generate 1–25 values locally using Web Crypto randomness. The tool calculates the IBAN check digits so each value passes MOD-97. This checks a number's structure, not whether a bank or account exists.

    Copy or download the set

    Copy the output or download toolars-test-ibans.txt. Values use four-character groups and include a test-only notice. Keep that notice with the data when sharing or adding fixtures to a test suite.

When Fake IBAN Generator is useful

Preview a GB-format form

Press Load sample to switch to GB and generate three new values. Review the grouped 22-character shapes and four-letter bank-code positions in a form layout. They pass MOD-97, but banks and accounts are not verified.

Build two ES validation fixtures

Select ES, set Test values to 2 and press Generate test IBANs. Review two grouped 24-character values that pass MOD-97. Use them to test format and checksum rules, not bank-account existence or payment acceptance.

Recover a count and export the set

Entering 0 or 26 clamps the count to 1 or 25 and clears the previous result. Choose a count from 1 to 25, generate again, then use Copy output or Download. The toolars-test-ibans.txt file starts with a TEST DATA ONLY notice; keep it with shared fixtures.

What Fake IBAN Generator actually does

Use synthetic IBANs for form layouts, sample screens and tests of length, character patterns or MOD-97 validation. To test payment processing, use the payment provider's documented sandbox values instead of assuming these random values will be accepted.

Common questions

Are these real bank account numbers?
The values are randomly generated and are not verified bank accounts. A valid checksum does not establish account existence or ownership, and random generation cannot rule out coincidence with a real number. Do not use them for real payments or identity verification.
Which country formats are supported?
Choose DE, GB, NL, FR, ES or IT. Generation follows each country's IBAN length and BBAN character pattern. It does not verify bank codes or implement every national account checksum.
What does mod-97 valid mean?
MOD-97 is the IBAN checksum check. Passing it does not guarantee a valid bank code, national account checksum or acceptance by a payment provider. Use these values only for the validation rules they actually cover.
How many can I generate, and is anything uploaded?
Between 1 and 25 values per run, which covers a fixture file or a mockup spread; run it again for a fresh set. Generation is fully local to this browser tab using Web Crypto randomness, nothing is uploaded, and no account is required.
