How to compress an image to a file-size limit
- 01
Choose an image
One PNG, JPEG, or WebP; up to 12 MiB, 8,192 pixels per side and 24 million pixels.
- 02
Set the byte limit and output format
The target is an upper byte limit, not an exact size or visual-quality guarantee. JPEG and WebP search between 50% and 95% encoder quality. Dimensions stay unchanged. A closest result still exceeds the limit; inspect the image before using it.
- 03
Check the result and download
PNG is re-encoded without a quality search and may not get smaller. Choose JPEG or WebP explicitly for lossy compression. JPEG replaces transparency with the selected background color.
